I'm starting to feel like I am just not cut out for the blogging world. There were many times when I thought or came close to opening a myspace account. Blogging almost feels like a chore. For some reason, I just can't dig out any witty or cool musings on movies to write about. But I signed up for this thing, so may as well put it to use. I'll start simply.
In the last year, Cinderella has had a special place in my heart. Being in the play made me remember how I loved this movie so much when I was little. So.....what do the evil executives at Disney do? They create Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. I refuse to see this movie. Instead, I read about it here . Why does this movie stink? It's as easy as bippity boppity boo:
Bippity-I think I can count on one hand the number of movie sequels that are FANTASTIC. Meaning they are better than or equal to the original movie. Lately, Disney has become notorious for doing unecessary sequels to already stinky new Disney movies or making sequels to Classic Disney films. Speaking of which, what is Cinderella II about? Don't know, don't care. I say, quit while you're ahead. The Mouse is and will always be alive and kicking. Stop expending energy on storylines and characters that will not stand the test of time. I highly doubt this generation of children will have fond memories of Cinderella III when they grow up to be cynical teenagers.
Boppity-Speaking of cynical, what is going on in the world (storybook or real) when even poor Cinderella can't catch a break? Last I saw, she ran down those church steps into the big white wedding carriage as she and the Prince rode into happily ever after. I think we need to let kids be kids. Let them have happily ever after for as long as possible. Every little girl needs to feel like a princess, like the world is full of magic and happiness. They don't need to learn just yet that happiness and all the other good things in life can be fleeting. Plus, I don't think even I could have wrapped my adorable little brain around a "what if?" scenario. Does a twist in time mean there's like time travel and worm holes and all the other weird stuff that goes with changing reality? Let kids have the fairy tale.
Boo-Just that "boo."
